Suitable Snacks to bring at Pulau Perhentian (Perhentian Island)

As we all know from my previous post, food at Perhentian Island could be very expensive. It is best we all know, as travelers, what to bring to such secluded island. Note that they can't get fresh vegetables, fruits or food from the be island itself but have to purchased it from the mainland. It is seem natural that all the restaurants management mark up their food prices.

So all we got to do peeps is to bring along some snacks or food with high shelf life to the island in order to save up some money. The kind of snacks that I think suitable to bring along to the island are:

1. Bread and jam or flavored tuna chunks
Bread plays an important role when I am at Perhentian Island. It is another source of carbohydrate instead of rice. Bread is way easier to consume. You don't have to further cook it like rice and last way longer than cooked rice. To make it interesting, bring along fruit jam or flavored tuna chunk.

2. Instant Noodle Cups
Instant noodle cups are one of the revolutionize invention since the early creation age of noodles. Now that we have things easier why not bring it along to the island to enjoy non-expensive delicious meal. However, please do check whether your hostel / hotel do provide kettle or hot water. Ask reception if necessary. Some may provide it in you room and some other like Shangri La hotel only able to provide kettle provided you pay RM 50 deposit.

3. Mineral Water
Mineral water is very important each individual on this planet. It helps hydrate us and lack of water in the body system could lead to terrible diseases. Mineral water can be really expensive at Perhentian Island. That is why it is very important to bring it along with you. 4 mineral bottles should be enough for 2 people for 4 nights 3 days stay. Provided that the accommodation provide kettle for you to boil more water for your consumption.

4. Candy
This is more to your personal liking. Candy do help reduce sea sickness especially the mint type. Acquiring candy before you reach the island would be fantastic as there is no shops that sell those on the island. Even if they do, they might not have the one candy brand that you like. Bring it along to your sea activities such as kayaking and snorkeling to further reduce the possibility of sea sickness.

Let me know what kind of snacks that you bring along to help reduce expenses at Perhentian Island?
